Do NIGHT VISION Glasses Work? – Night Driving Glasses Review

Anti-Glare Glasses for Driving at Night

You’re driving home from work after a long day. It’s been raining and the roads are slick. As you approach a stoplight, you notice the car in front of you has its high beams on. The light hits your rearview mirror and reflects back into your eyes, momentarily blinding you. You tap your brakes and slow down, but it’s too late—you’ve rear-ended the car in front of you.

If this scenario sounds familiar, you’re not alone. In fact, research shows that 3 out of 4 car accidents occur at night. One of the contributing factors to these accidents is glare from oncoming traffic. But there is a solution—anti-glare glasses for night driving.

How Anti-Glare Glasses Work

Most anti-glare glasses for driving have a yellow-tinted lens. This filter blocks out blue light, which is scattered more in foggy or rainy conditions and makes it easier for drivers to see in low-light situations.

Some also have an polarized lens, which eliminates horizontal glare from oncoming headlights, streetlights, and other reflective surfaces. These lenses allow drivers to see clearly without distortion and make it easier to identify obstacles in the road.

Benefits of Anti-Glare Glasses

There are many benefits to wearing anti-glare glasses when driving at night, including:

– Reduced eye fatigue

– Improved vision

– Greater clarity

– Increased safety

Conclusion:

If you find yourself squinting to see while driving at night, it may be time to invest in a pair of anti-glare glasses. These glasses can help reduce eye fatigue, improve vision, and increase safety on the roadways. When choosing a pair of anti-glare glasses, look for ones with a yellow-tinted lens and a polarized lens for the best results.

It’s not really a decent group or realistic.

    1. Doctor Eye Health

I agree, but I still am not sure the glasses really offer that much of a benefit. Have you tried them?

    2. Brian Ireland

@Doctor Eye Health No, I don’t need them so far. Keep up the good work. Love the videos.

  3. Joyce Elmer

They did not help me. I used them at night on unlit roads. Didn’t help me with on coming traffic. Could see better without them.

    1. Doctor Eye Health

?. That was my feelings too. I kinda like them for low light times but otherwise I dont see that huge of a benefit.

    2. jfdc

Me too. They didn’t help me at ALL!

Astigmatism can be a major issue for people. How are things?

    2. Jan Louie Saturnino

@Doctor Eye Health It’s all good doctor! I’m okay with my myopia because I have been considered as low myopia since my prescription is 100 both eyes

I was a test driver for 3 years and these were a life saver at night and helped with eye strain massively

    1. Dapper Dan

@Liviu Lois could be start of cataracts with the starbursts from lights. I have that issue

    2. The No Neck People Representative

@Liviu Lois I get the starburst effect at night too, especially when it’s raining. I believe it’s caused by an astigmatism in my left eye. Driving at night is brutal when there’s oncoming LED headlights. I’ve installed them in my truck to counter the headlights of other traffic and it’s helped.
I recently purchased a pair of prescription yellow tint (80%), that combination has helped a lot.

    3. The No Neck People Representative

@Dapper Dan I think the starburst is caused by an astigmatism.

    4. poppaluv

@PhaseSkater Whe we say “glare”, i wonder if that is what os bother me. My issue at night is the street lights, headlights, etc seem to have these “startburst ” p atterns where the light spreads out from the source. Oog course i have issues finding where the corners are in businesses and lots. It all looks like street to me. lol
Of c ourse most of these are not striped well or it is very worn.

    5. poppaluv

@Dapper Dan I have that issue, but no cataracts.

  6. Michel J. Gaudet

Hi. I tried the “Eagle Vision” clip-on type a while back – no difference for night driving, but WOW the colors during the day really seemed to POP; very pleasant experience! Full fall foliage is really WONDERFUL looking!!! But for night driving? NOPE! ✨?✨
Love the channel and wish you MANY years going and that ONE MILLION MARK is hit sooner than later.

    1. Doctor Eye Health

THank you so much for sharing! Yes, I find they really do make colors pop during daylight. I will have to try them this coming fall.
And thanks for watching! I can’t imagine getting to 1 million haha. I could only hope to help so many people.

    1. Dinar AndFriends

@Palash Singhal For example, it was completely unclear what you were referring to in your response.

    2. Palash Singhal

@Dinar AndFriends you should do some research, Omega 3 fatty acids are rich in Vitamin A and C, (Atleast here in India every manufacturer claims Vitamin A and C on the outer packaging on Cod Liver and Fish oils respectively)!

    3. Dinar AndFriends

@Palash Singhal Um…they add the vitamins.
It’s like putting sugar in your coffee: the sugar isn’t part of the coffee bean.

    4. Dinar AndFriends

@Palash Singhal >>you should do some research
Coming from somebody who thinks that a fatty acid “contains” vitamin C, that’s rich.

    5. Dinar AndFriends

You should eat plenty of kale and carrots.

  8. Fun&Co Land

I do have a pair of these glasses, they do help with the blue led lights as you stated and some bits in high traffic areas but that’s about it.

My struggle with driving during the nigth is that I see “stars” around headlights and even redlights and wonder if these types of lenses will help reduce that or if it will just be the same but with another tint. Because these “stars” makes it harder to see what I have infront of me when it is dark out, but isn’t impacting my driving to much, it is just more annoying than an distraction

    1. MrCJJ2008

Are your windows clean? If not, then that can produce a star glare illuminating from the head lights too

Doctor can you answer me why I occasionally get milia on the water line of my eye they are tiny wee bumps but it makes me feel like I have something in the eye as it rubs on the eye. After a day or so it goes away but what causes it. Is it my eye makeup? Thanks for any help

    1. Palash Singhal

Maybe because you have dry eyes? Have you seen your eye doctor about it?

    2. TASIAawful1

Palash Singhal I do suffer with dry eyes. I never thought that might be what’s causing it. I’ll have a word with my doctor when I can. Many thanks

Hi doctor, I got shingles on eyelid ? Is it dangerous?

    1. Palash Singhal

It’s not dangerous as it’s mainly bacteria or other kind of fungi type of infection that might be on it, Make sure to you go to your dermatoligist or an opthalmologist and get suggestions from them so that your issue could be resolved properly! 🙂

  18. B B

When my patients ask about tint on their glasses, I always explain that the benefit from tint is very subjective. Two patients in the exact same situation may have different experiences with tint. Some may say that it helped immensely while some may say that it had no effect. And this is the same for basically any type of tint.

  19. muppet929

They didn’t help/do much for me. I got a cheap pair so I was hoping that was the reason why but after watching this I think I’ll pass on more expensive ones. 🙂

  20. Kaapuni

I think your videos are just so educational and I love to watch them. There is something that I have never been able to get help with and that is…I have a film on my eye constantly more one side than the other. I have seen eye doctors who tell me to use tears not really saying I have dry eyes. I have tried every brand of tears, even the one you recommend and eyewashes, drop to clear film that I try to find for myself..to no avail! If I did not live so far from you I would be there to see you! But my eye exams are perfect and my vision correction is perfect…just this film that comes and goes every day. I am miserable and need your opinion on this. If you can point me in another direction I will go… Thank you

  21. Dinar AndFriends

They would be great for hunters: they could shoot each other rather than the poor animals!

    1. Dinar AndFriends

@Green Giant We can only hope.

  22. jfdc

I tried them, and they didn’t help at all! Total waste of money. They didn’t reduce glare, and I could NOT see better at night with them, even driving in the city. Back to driving without them.

  23. R J G

I’m 65 I have yellow lenses on my Oakley Factory Pilot’s glasses not prescription. For Me on long drives 50 miles or longer my eyes don’t fatigue as easy. There is a small change in headlight glair didn’t think it matter but it does for me

  24. Funtasticao

  25. Leadskill - Ron Oltmanns

I’ve tried driving with yellow tint at night and it helps some with blue light glare but otherwise it filters out the total amount of light coming in. One thing I’ve learned from flying is that eyes and night vision take time to adjust to darkness and glaring light can instantly degrade the natural adaptation that the eyes make after 15 min or more. That’s why in the cockpit we use red light as much as possible and turn down the lighting on the console. In my opinion, more cars should allow you to not just dim lights on your console but also change the tinting to more red light. If your car allows for dimming inside console lights, you should use it if you’re bothered by night driving eye strain. Your other tips about cleaning your own lenses, windshield and headlights was right on

    1. Todd Fraisure

Thank you sincerely for the advice about dimming the dash lights. So obvious that I kicked myself for not thinking about that.

    2. AyeJayCee

I drive a 1998 car with old school incandescent backlit dashboard lighting and when I step into a modern car with stupid LED screens everywhere I can’t see sh* at night

  26. Linda Borg

They really help me I can see so much more clearer !

  27. LMB OH

I keep a pair of yellow-tinted clip-on lenses in my car for foggy days, or for those snowy times when it is more gray mist than true snowfall. The yellow tint does help bring out the contrast in those specific situations, but not in others.

    1. Doctor Eye Health

      100% Agree!

  29. Geek In utopia

Finally, sunglasses you can wear indoors!

    1. Doctor Eye Health

Haha I guess! The polarization is pretty cool.

  30. TheMrgoodtool

I researched nighttime driving glasses extensively, and ordered what I thought was the best one’s on the market, through amazon.com yellow tint, for night driving,,,,NO HELP at all!! Previously, in my drag racing career, I used them because they were very helpful in seeing colors better and brighter on the starting tree…greens and yellows. Nowadays I’m needing anti-glare, more than tinting. I’m 68, and nighttime glare is the worst!. Polarized glasses do work, can you suggest any brand that’s best?

    1. Doctor Eye Health

      For polarized sunglasses you mean?

    2. TheMrgoodtool

Using the generic term “sunglasses” yes, the best polarized brand of glasses, for glare. I’ve read about different coatings too, like “ar” coatings for night driving. Are there better or worse anti-glare glasses for night driving? Maybe just what to look out for, pros and cons. Thanks!

  31. Joseph S Tilley

I try it couple times but I didn’t like it

    1. Doctor Eye Health

Yeah it seems hit or miss.

  32. Oma1r03

Hey there.. i just found out that i am a deutan couple days ago.. i am not really sure if thats true bcz i do see green and red pretty well.. is there any chance of someone not seeing the numbers in the colorblind test to NOT be colorblind?

Does subliminal (Quadible integrity) really change eye color or not.???

  34. coolnegative

I have a pair of “amber vision” night glasses. When I was younger I had no issues driving at night. I find that they really help to cut the glare from oncoming traffic for me, or a particularly bright sunset, etc.

  35. Space Catboy

does reading in low light actually hurt your eyes

    1. Deepu V

Yes. Reading in low light for a long time you will end up with nearsightedness or myopia.

  36. sunguy08

I wish they would make LED headlights illegal. I’ve had to pull over many times due to going temporarily blind from them.

    1. PhaseSkater

those probably arent factory. someone probably put LEDs in a car with a reflector housing instead of projectors. they also dont have their lights properly aimed

    2. Riyo Arata

@Louis Hernandez I understand what you imagine about what causing the blinding effect of led lights, but sometimes light from that type of car is blinding for some people (like me), not in a long time, just a split second, but it is still distracting, and I don’t need to directly staring at the light to get the blinding effect, cars from the opposite direction can cause this, not all cars, but some, I don’t really know about cars maybe there are some specific type of light that causing this

    3. Frank The Tank

Yeah it seems like they have high beams on. I think you have to look more to the right try not to look at the light. I am very light sensitive.

    4. DarkK

good comment, let’s ban led headlights

  37. Christian Højgaard

Good to see you address this subject.
I must say, though, that I wish you were more critical and definitive in your conclusions and not so prone to leaving it up to the patient. I was pleased to see you cite that study by Hwang et al., but you failed to mention that it found that drivers might actually have a HARDER time detecting pedestrians while wearing yellow tinted lenses, instead of just not seeing an improvement… Also, numerous sources like All About Vision, Harvard, American Academy of Optometry, Brooks & Borish and Rosenfeld & Logan state that not only do night driving lenses not have beneficial effects, they actually reduce visual acuity at night time, meaning they’re literally hazardous to wear.

  38. Casey Thomas

You are exactly right. While they will not help you see better in complete darkness, they will help you feel more comfortable. I find them to be very helpful in dealing with the new bluish headlights nowadays. Since no two people are exactly the same you can expect it it will help some and not others. I really enjoy your videos. Keep it up.

    1. Reddylion

Should I buy the driving glasses !

  39. Nicole's Reproductions

Dr., I recently had lasik eye surgery. During the the light of the day I see great, but at night the glare is terrible. Is there something you can recommend? Jim

    1. James Connor

Alphagan drops are an option. Talk to your local eye doc about getting an Rx.

  40. Kretza Loshcki

My hands are bound behind my back and my glasses are dirty. What do you recommend for getting my glasses clean since I can’t use my hands to do it?

  41. That Glasses Guy

Hands down I’m with you on this one! Great lenses for fowl weather or “low” light dusk/dawn twilight situations, but definitely not night time.

  42. CCP Perrett

Thank you for this review. I hate to drive at night. I have wondered if these glasses would help, but have never bought any.

  43. MrOstrich_123

Hey, can you get colorblind if your parents aren’t colorblind

Well I am colorblind but my parents are not colorblind

    1. Jeff U.

If you are a male, then yes. It is considered a “recessive” genetic trait. You would have received it from your mom, who has the recessive gene. Females will only get it if their dad is color blind, and it doesn’t matter if their mom is or isn’t. It can be caused by damage to parts of the eye also.

  44. Janis Khan

    I have tried them

  45. Kitties Corner

I have a pair. It doesn’t lesson the halos or starbursts, but it does tone them down a bit. So they do help me. I don’t really buy the study unless they tested only people with halos and starburst. I mean anything that makes the blinding less is a help.

    1. Marshall Mason

I agree have a study done with people only that see halo night driving. Halos are blinding during night driving after Caterat Surgery vision improved a lot but halos on coming traffic night time, any remedy let me know try yellow, anti reflective len
      Not much help.

  46. LuckySeven

You look like Motonosity. Is he your brother?

  47. Sabrina Exposito

Hey! I have a question and I’ve been having a lot of anxiety towards this subject. I go outside, and when I look at the sky or if it’s really bright, I’ll see tony flickering dots, or one floater, and a black dot or something. Is this normal? I’m really young and I think I’m going blind or something lol. I’m far sighted with 4.50 on both eyes, so I’m reallllyyy scared and if you could shed some clarity on this, you’d save my life ?

    1. hazz

Have you been stressed recently? Floaters in the sky usually are normal but get checked probably is nothing serious

    2. Sabrina Exposito

Alen Haziri thank you!! And yes, really stressed.

    3. hazz

Sabrina Exposito i have been stressed and i started to see floaters

    4. Sabrina Exposito

Alen Haziri I am a ball of walking anxiety. Once I noticed one floater I immediately thought the worst. I’ll call my doctor just Incase, but thank you!

    5. hazz

Sabrina Exposito watch the videos of TREY JONES he make videos about anxiety and floaters and other anxiety symptoms

  48. Christopher Sturm

I worked as a company electrician for a welding shop for a few years, and I had a pair of prescription yellow tinted glasses that I wore as safety glasses (with side shields). They really helped with the glare coming from the welding booths at times when I was passing by (not looking at the arc, just getting caught by the glare of it), and felt noticeably less strain at the end of the day.

I tried the “night driving glasses” back when I was a kid, and understood that they don’t “brighten” things up, but they sure do make it easier to notice and identify objects.

  49. Casey Casas

I have glaucoma & the LED lights have made it so I have severe problems driving at night & generally can’t anymore. It’s so hard.

  50. Ross Cherry

Hey Doctor! I just found you from Sean Cannell’s YouTube Challenge. Happy to Subscribe and great job!

  51. Red Parlour

like you said on a rain or foggy day they work best. And help filter the blue beam from the headlights. I recommend them for motorcyclist. They work for daytime and night and keep you from having to carry clear and sunglasses.

  52. Jeff U.

I wonder what percentage the polarization is in those lenses. I’ve never seen plain yellow or amber tinted sunglass lenses available with polarization. I also noticed that the polarization effect seems to be in the opposite direction to most polarized sunglasses, which darken when you hold them vertically toward an LCD screen instead of horizontally.

    1. Doctor Eye Health

I think that is because the polarization is off on my computer screen?
But I agree I had not seen yellow filter lenses like these before with any polarization.

  53. PhYsiCs ZiNdaaBaaD

Can we use these driver yellow glasses for computer use ??? Please do answer me.

  54. Ana Larson

Yeah halogen and LED lights not good for vision. As for the rest to help identify the pedestrian at night would not be the test to look for. If it’s making certain things easier for less fatigue that test is off, and glasses are individual for comfort and use.

  55. Sethcha Koy

Can I wear these during the day, when the sun ☀️ is out?

  56. Prajak Yangyuen

How about ZEISS DriveSafe with Luminance Design® Technology by ZEISS?

  57. Kinneth Tolentino

Good day doc. I just wanna ask. Does blue light glasses has the same characteristics with the night vision driving glasses?

  58. Bats OfTheMans

Just wondering about Research found that exposure to blue light suppresses the production of melatonin more than any other type of light. It is believed that the shorter wavelengths in blue light is what causes the body to produce less melatonin because the body is more sensitive to this type of light.
So would the yellow tint eliminate the shorter wavelengths in blue?

  59. Tiffany's Google

Absolutely hate those LED headlights. Sometimes I close my eyes when they get to close ? I’m very sensitive to light. Might give these a try

    1. Social Justice Warrior

Don’t close your eyes, that’s dangerous (if an on-coming car suddenly swerves in front of you, you won’t be able to notice it if it happens while your eyes are shut).

rather squint your eyes until your vision is blurry. Squinting this much really helps block the glare from those bright led lights while allowing you to still see the road.

  60. Super Saiyan Bro

I have LED lights similar to those in the pyramid in Vegas and people always honk at me ?

  61. Nona Jordan

Hi I love your videos. A comment on this one about night vision glasses. I have cataracts and have to drive at night. Before getting mine I was actually frightened to drive in heavy traffic. Everything had a halo, the lights were blinding at intersections and I couldn’t even see the lane lines to know if I was turning correctly. My eye doc wasn’t helpful so I bought some and it was like a miracle! I COULD see at night, and also during the day when the sky and highway was the same color so I couldn’t see standing water, the lines, etc. So I never, ever go anywhere without my glasses (mine were purchased online but through a reputable company. Perhaps these don’t help people with no eye issues but I literally could not drive without them.

    1. brighterstarr shinymoon

      @Nona Jordan.
Where did you purchase your glasses from, please? I have cataracts too, and the night driving is horrible. I don’t want to waste any money, so recommendations are welcome.

    2. brighterstarr shinymoon

@Nona Jordan thank you. I will have a look, although I’m in the UK so not sure I’ll get them here. Fingers crossed!

    3. guy carreau

@brighterstarr shinymoon please telle me the name of your glasses and where can i get them thank you

  62. Sailor Dave

I’ve tried the clip on night vision glasses and it made it more difficult because my roads were not lit.

    1. Khai Chun Thee

Sailor Dave unless you are really light sensitive, you actually don’t need light driving glasses

    2. Sailor Dave

Khai Chun Thee I’m beginning to have issues with night vision. Have an appointment with my ophthalmologist four days from now for test and possible treatment.

    3. Khai Chun Thee

@Sailor Dave yes please do so

  63. Sailor Dave

I use amber colored polarized clip on for daytime driving

  64. Richard Stephen

Research shows “Yellow filters in eye result in higher visibility”

  65. David McKee Smith

As far as LED headlights go… modern cars with factory designed led lights are not the problem. It’s the Yahoo “car guy” idiots who add aftermarket LED lamps to lenses not meant for them.

  66. Beachblues21

Thanks for the info. I was considering buying a pair for night time driving. Keep up with the good work!

    1. Doctor Eye Health

No problem ?Glad I could help!

    2. Jo Hu (Joanna)

@Doctor Eye Health Any ideas of what to look for or brands to try?

  67. Walter Whitman

My issue with driving at night is that I find stop lights and headlights blinding, especially on wet roads, but even on dry roads. Would yellow tinted lenses help?

    1. T. Brooks Harris

Same here. The reason I came.

  68. Dusty

I do pest control in the Mojave. I have very sensitive eyes to light and yellow shooting glasses really help me do inspections esp for ants. Something to do with the contrast and helps take the blending (camo) effect off and seperate the ground from the small critters.

  69. Mark Hart

What about a light -medium tint on standard vision glasses & a polarising coating would that work for night driving?

  70. Vince Dubbed

Im here because I bought a pair at Dollar Tree and thought….. why the hell not?! Now I wanna know if they are practical

  71. Clarence Swope

The creator of those nasty blue headlights should be smacked

I love the amber color clip-on shades at night when I am driving because it turns the nasty blue headlights into a meek and mild green and I can see instead of being blinded by those nasty blue

  72. 12 гуми И дизел

I’m a night time truck driver 2 years in my first year i have terrible experience without them in the morning especially also during driving also but now from 1 year i used them i feel perfectly no watery eyes no problem in the morning they help they really help

  73. CCWolfPackGamer

At night the glare is so bad that i cant tell exactly where the cars are at all. I get headaches and i have to squint my eyes at times. Is there any suggestions that will help me. I love to drive. I want to be a trucker I know i necessarily don’t need to drive at night but I’d love to drive all hours.

  74. HighDesertPat

You don’t need these when driving at night. Just tint the windshield of your car with a layer of ceramic windshield tint. This would probably be good for motorcycle riders though

    1. matthew turner

im sure that’s expensive to do

  75. matthew turner

in my part of florida we have a lot of taller pick up trucks with massive blinding white lights and most people leave their brights on as they pass you or are behind you so if these can minimize the fact that i get blinded by a flashbang of a truck then they are worth it to me

  76. Ed Perez

    Great for night bike rides

  77. EZJ

I bet the results will be different for different forms of colorblind people too.

  78. Geek Geekrickson

Those yellow tinted ” night driving” glasses are really only good for if you want to wear glasses but don’t need prescription glasses.
Not to mention, it’s illegal in most places to drive at night with tinted glasses on.

  79. Castello Castero

I’m pretty sure it’s illegal in most states to drive at night with those tinted “night driving” glasses on!

  80. Ali Ahmad

man your eyes are cool ?

  81. Matt

My problem is that lights are to bright! I need reduced glate asap from lights, and wet streets and reflections off cars and other objects.

So getting these would actually help me because it will be reducing both brightness and shine/glare effects. Dont care about yellow.

  82. MarkK

Boy do I feel you. I’m actually starting to despise people with those bright ass white-blue headlights. nothing worse than driving down a dark country road and over a hill come two white supernovas. more than once I couldnt see absolutely anything and nearly shit my pants trying not to hit the other car or run myself off the road. my friend recently got a new truck and told me he wants to put on bright white headlights. I looked at him like “are you fuckin asshole”?

  83. Wendy Kaplan

Talk to me about opticatrophy.. any progress?

  84. Curious Planet

if they tested with a driving simulator then real-world lighting will not be equivalent to the simulation

  85. Kelly Mc

To me it kinda makes the LEDs look like they have a green hue and don’t hurt my eyes so bad

  86. BeckyD12341

What do you think about the new Drivewear lenses?

    1. D.J. Schultz

I have been wearing Drivewear lenses for years and wear them most all winter instead of my regular polarized lenses during the day. Not so much in the dark though.

  87. Mike Schottenheimer

Drove long distance truck for 52 years and I could never get used to them but as I got older they seemed to help especially in the rain and snow.

    1. ALDO

Wow, 52 years, I commend you for your noble profession. Thanks for the many years of service to all of us. I admire you even more when the toilet paper made it in during the pandemic.

  88. Sarafin

I bought them 10 years ago, online, wore just few times then stop wearing them cause it just make the whole view looks abit darker. Wasted my money

  89. kathryn mccaffrey

Hi. At night, I see huge auras around oncoming headlights, red, blue yellowl also on street lights etc.. They overwhelm my sight. Would you recommend these yellow glasses? Sounds like no.

  90. Mohammed Shoyeb

I fell off from bike last night and the glasses I’m wearing are old and everytime my frame broke I was gonna simply get the same frame and fix the same glasses into new frame. Last night I fell off because I didn’t see the hole ? watching this video with wounded knee and arm ???

  91. Karam Hamouche

Does night glasses remove glare and starburst and ghosting when my pupil is large at night? Cz i have complications from.laser there is a mismatch from my pupil size and treated zone

  92. Steven Searle

Can uv protection be added to polorized prescription sunglasses

  93. Nicole Call

Thank you for this video. I was born with coloboma in my left eye. Almost completely blind in it. So we both know how sensitive I can be to light. However with my good eye. While driving at night. Oncoming traffic can be a bit to much for me. As it takes awhile for me not to see it when I blink. Driving down a main road isn’t as bad for me as driving down an off road. I’ve been curious about if these would work for me or not. However just based on you said in this video. They “Might” help with driving down a main road with heavy traffic. Also might help with night vision during a snow storm. From the north. So I see my fair share of it every winter. I think I still want to try them tho. Just to get my own opinion. Since I see the world differently than most two sighted ppl. ?

    1. Doctor Eye Health

Ooh coloboma is an interesting condition. Will need to do that in a video

    2. Nicole Call

@Doctor Eye Health I’d like to see it. I read about it in Google. Those the eyes I saw there. Look nothing like mine. How do I put it. It’s almost like there is no pupil. Tho I have dark brown eyes. So it’s hard to tell.

These new car LED lights are annoying and hurt as fuck

  96. Shant Ka

Yes I get annoyed by cars led lights it’s so bright

  97. M P

what I’m seeing at intersections now…..
oncoming: EXTREMELY bright, poorly-aimed LED lights
in front of you: old, DIMLY-LIT brake and tail lights
The LED oncomings obliterate the dim brake and tail lights.

Long story short, be ultra-careful at night near trafficky intersections.

  98. John S

Are there any lenses/filters that help with star bursting caused by RK surgery?

  99. TheRadMyles

Maybe it doesn’t help people drive better, that’s more of a habit thing. What I think he’s tryna say is that maybe the glasses help some people feel more confident driving at night which may in turn help them focus on driving more instead of being distracted or blinded by improperly aligned head lights and LED/ Xenon lights

  100. Scott Schapiro

Any suggestions for those of us with light sensitivity that are blinded by the glare of headlights at night?

  101. birkir orn

Had polarised bronze tinted glasses which helped a lot in all conditions (except total darkness, obviously). Especially good in total white out. But I often had to explain to my clients/passengers how they worked.

  102. Preston Carrell

I know that you will never see this comment but what if you have and astigmatism?? When me and my dad leave early in the morning to hunt headlights from other cars make it to where I cant hardly see at all because the astigmatism makes it so much worse

  103. Shhongoddanah

Migraine 1 or 2 A YEAR!!! I’m getting them 3 to 4 times a week! But I want to ask u, I have corneal dystrophy will they help me with the halos

    1. Shhongoddanah

I also have problems with walking at night it’s not only driving ?

  104. Ranz Bayate

Where can I order this one? Im from Philippines.

  105. Tim Smith

I have LED lights and feel bad about it but not sure they can be replaced. I do hate seeing them on other cars but it never occurred to me when I bought my/a car. = Oops.

  106. Klaus v G

Do yellow lenses work night time driving? YES But… What to take into account? Q: How much light they pass. A: 65% to 75% (so, 35% to 25% reduction of visible light that’s the amount of light ‘lost’ while wearing glasses with yellow lenses) If to believe those numbers one should NEVER wear such glasses when driving during rainy night (when everything is black) and no opposing traffic. During early morning hours just before sunrise Ray-Ban Ambermatics (photochromic yellow) can be fairly ideal driving glasses. They pass 65% visible light, block all UV, and even after sunrise they work pretty well (due they darken in visible sunlight and reduce glare) Same goes in evening, around time of sunset, they improve visibility. And then there are those UV shielding constant yellow lenses available for some Oakley glasses. Constant yellow and pass 75% of visible light but blocks all 100% UV A, B and C according to standard. Mainly intended for shooting range but work pretty will in evening traffic. My personal experiences have been: 1. Never use constant yellow lenses in strong sunlight (it will make your eyes hurt and tired) they ain’t sunglasses, Ambermatics could do (due they darken in sunlight) , but constant yellow just makes everything too bright. 2. Constant yellow lenses block fairly well blue light aspect of Xenon headlights (and reduces glare of LED headlights) of opposing traffic, as well as reduces reflection of light from the road surface, therefore reduces strain on eyes. On snowy winter roads, yellow lenses are a must in night driving. I never use polaroid lenses while driving (an neither uses commercial pilots polaroid type lenses) … These have been my findings during last over three decades. Three Ray-Ban’s (B&L the Changeable Brown, Gradient Brown and B&L Ambermatic’s) were my driving glasses for different conditions for well over 20 years then Oakley’s with constant yellow lenses became the actual night driving glasses (and they are also EXCELLENT in FOG) , and they have served me well over 10 years… That’s been my experience about using Ambermatics and yellow lens Oakleys in reduced visibility during past decades.

  107. JayBe Trucking

I drive nights for a living and I feel yellow glasses help me with some glare they take getting used to at first

  108. Froukje Renia

They should eliminate the LED headlights all together, as they blind you temporarily.

    1. Joe R

It’s even worse when people install aftermarket LED headlights and fog lights into their older cars, and they don’t aim them properly.

    1. Doctor Eye Health

I find they work the best in fog

  109. محمد حسين

They are not tellingly the truth and I tried the glasses and found that is not helpful and they lied in this case

  110. Darren Field

I’m dyslexic and the bright contrast between white and dark colours is hard to process. Tinted frames help alot.

    1. Doctor Eye Health

      Do you have any favorites?

    2. Darren Field

@Doctor Eye Health not in terms of brands, no, but yellow or brown are good colours for shades. Green or pink is good for reading ?

  111. LapinBeau

I wear my sunglasses at night!

  112. PewPew

My safety glasses for shooting are tinted yellow & they seem to help with glare at specific times of day.

  113. Nicolo

Anyone know where to buy glasses that allows you to SEE UV light…

  114. Cmdr Panda

Funny thing, I saw somewhere that the human eyes have more blue cones, and that the yellow lenses technically will make things harder to see. I do agree that during dawn, dusk and twilight they make things appear much brighter.

  115. Kitty

Thank you!!!!! I’m leaving here Knowing what’s what, I like that!!! Your knowledge is appreciated ?

    1. Doctor Eye Health

Awesome! Thank you! I am always trying to improve my reviews and videos so it is nice to heard your feedback.

  116. Ret Army Combat Vet

I tried many night vision glasses, the one that I found that works is a combo of light yellow tinting, polarization and lights, like city driving. No illume or zero lights like country driving these glasses doesn’t work. The yellow tinted ones with out polarization works during dust, dawn, or bad weather (Gray world), I found that computer glasses also works great.

  117. Indigo Wolf

I’ve seen those commercials for driving at night and I thought about getting them but I’m an older person and I just don’t drive at night because I don’t see as well as I used to and I just don’t really need to be out at night for anything. So I just don’t go. And I didn’t want to waste my money on something that probably didn’t work anyway.

  118. Dan Coulson

Brighten things up? No not in a million years.
Reduce glare? I can imagine that being a real thing. They’d be very effective at cutting out the bluish xenon or LED headlights that dazzle you.
But it’s worth noting that they’d also reduce the effectiveness of your own headlights, if they’re xenon.
If you have Halogen headlights, then they’d probably be good. If you’re on an empty road with no chance of glare, then remove them to allow more of your own headlight light to get back to your eyes.

Now with comfortable I can see my mobile computer
Can doing online classes and work
Though I am worried about my little bit lazy eye

  123. Soez_strg

This video went too long, here’s the answer for anyone else who’s curious:

“Some wearers of night driving glasses report that they’re better able to see at night while wearing them. However, visual tests indicate that night driving glasses do not improve night vision, and do not help drivers see pedestrians any faster than they would without them.

In fact, a small 2019 study showed that night driving glasses actually slow down visual reflexes by a fraction of a second, making night vision slightly worse.”

    1. Doctor Eye Health

Sorry you didnt enjoy the video, but thanks for commenting

  124. Inquisitive

I love them for driving and darker days. With cronic dry eye glasses sure help.

  128. b888

Polarized night glasses are the only ones worth it.

  129. Adrian Dumitrascu

you wont see better in dark condition, but you will see better when encounter LED and people that has their beam set to high, btw if its too dark and no car coming from the other direction just use high beam, every car has one :))

  130. Matthew Mascarenas

I got shot in the eye with a BB gun…so i have Halo vision in my right eye… And in heavy rain…heavy traffic.. huge trucks and. SUVs that are on coming …this is the only way i can see…no on a dark road i take them off cause i cant see…. But over all i need them at night when it bumper to bumper traffic

    1. Doctor Eye Health

That is great! Thanks for sharing that!

  131. Daniel Lee

Driving alone on a country road with no street lights is easy. The problem is oncoming headlights of another car when there are no street lights to illuminate the road, the oncoming headlights on dark roads when they’re right in the next lane reduces contrast a lot of the bitumen against white road lines via glare.

For LED headlights, there’s a specific spike in the blue part or the spectrum usually – not evenly spread out. Meaning you could use a filter to take out a certain bandwidth of light in the blue spectrum and greatly reduce their impact. We have similar filters in astrophotography and astronomical filters to cut specific emission lines.

  132. Alex T

Just had lasik and seems like my glare and starbursts aren’t going down at all so hoping to find something to help me drive…

  134. Dan Dan

Aren’t there warm light LEDs for cars?

  135. BBN

I actually don’t need them to brighten things up. I go blind in front of oncoming headlights. It’s just to remove the glares. When I use my Ray-Ban sun glasses, it eliminates the glare but makes the other side dark. Can someone get a polarized lens without shades?

    1. Doctor Eye Health

I imagine they can…but I have not seen them. Perhaps you can request polarized lenses with a super faint tint?

  136. mihaela dog

Wear these glasses on a depressing cloudy day and you feel it’s sunny , trick your brain not to go blue ?
As for night driving it does help bc all white lights on street you see them yellow, much easier on eyes.It is a misconception here, the glasses don’t brighten things up but calm down the led’s and all sharp laser beams from cars.
For ppl with light sensitivity like me these glasses are la MUST.
Make sure the glass is bright yellow, no dark tint and you’re all set.
I live in rural area , I drive dark lanes I see perfectly fine small animals have flashy eyes ???

  147. sarabande90

I wear them 3 hours before going to bed, and I get better sleep.

  148. Lisa L Savage

    I love night vision sunglasses

  149. Gary Geiser

First off, IF people could dim their bright lights when a vehicle approaches most night driving problems would go away. I wear yellow night glasses because they reduce glare. They obviously do not improve the overall visibility but, they do lessen the glare – especially from those who never learned how to switch lights to low beams. Maybe we should put that dimmer switch back on the floor where it once was?!

  150. Marmar c

I Bought a very Good pair if night vision yellow lens glasses for glare. I FOUND THEY DID NOT WORK AT ALL FOR GLARE OF ONCOMMING CAR LIGHTS AND BRIGHT LIGHTS!!!!!. NO DIFFERENCE!! JUST CHANGES THE CONTRAST WHICH I DON’T EVEN LIKE!!!! RETURNING THEM!!!

  151. The Butler

I use amber lenses for Downhill mountain biking (most of my (ok rather shonkly) videos are taken while wearing either amber or polarized glasses.
When passing from sunlight into shadow (i.e riding into a forest) you often are riding blind while your eyes acclimatize to the darker area.
Amber glasses allow a quicker transition so have the effect of seeing better in the darkened areas.
When in/out of the shade, amber glasses are better than dark glasses as dark glasses impair vision as you enter the shade.
I have also riden with clear glasses on overcast days (as you need some form of wind/dust protection when riding, but have found amber to be better than clear in all but the darkest conditions, and I don’t ride after dusk.

My amber glasses are just gas wielding or safety glasses and still work very well.

    on another note…
4:00 they used a driving simulation… Sooooooooo they tested people with a completely different light source (and polarized) and we’re supposed to think that the results are the same as if they actually tested the people in a REAL night time environment….

  152. K Brown

LED headlights are simply out of control these days. There seems to be zero standards/restrictions placed on vehicle manufacturers with lights such as from the new Cadillac Escalades, along with some of the Honda vehicles literally blindingly bright. Headlights were designed to illuminate the road directly in front of the vehicle at a downward angle. Today, manufacturers attempt to illuminate all areas in front and to the side of the vehicle as far forward as possible. For people driving pick-ups and large SUVs it isn’t so much of a problem but for those of us driving cars that are sitting lower the intensity can be blinding.

    1. Bad Bass and Blowing :-/ Salaki Hz

@Elmer Christian Silva yeah we had to trim the lights down on out suv because it was to bright up on the air. So people where thinking we had high beam on 24/7.

    2. DIDAmnesia

100%. These LED headlamps should be illegal

    3. Mary Jane Manson

I know what you mean. I remember my Dad saying to direct your eyes to the right solid white line marking the shoulder of the road when blinded by outcoming headlights. If on a road in the USA that has a shoulder line on the right side of the road.

    4. samir patel

In the Uk apparently the law for lighting hasnt been changed since 1965. The lights seem to be getting brighter each year and its dangerous. Im baffled that governments havent tackled this.

  153. A Kind Hobo

What about people with keratoconus or astigmatism?

  154. PhaseSkater

i got 70 percent ceramic heat blocking tint on my windshield. slightly affects night driving. wish i could do anything to naturally boost visibility

  155. Edward LaValley

I’m a over the road truck driver and I agree I have not seen a difference wearing yellow tinted glasses except for oncoming headlights. I agree I get less of a headache when oncoming traffic has their headlights on at night especially when divers don’t turn off their brights.

  156. Andrew Wells

I think the problem, with understanding the validity, is that night light conditions can be very different depending on location and timing.

I am only start on the path to prescription glasses. But i tend to have my polarized sunglasses on past sunset. I think having polarized filter can help reduce light from brights sources , while not reducing light from ambient sousers.

  157. Ed Rey

Blue or violet wavelength head lights (for that matter police lights) SHOULD become illegal. There are multiple reasons why yellow or light-amber/light-umber lights were originally put on vehicles. Yellow light wavelengths go further through fog and rainy conditions, and it’s easier on the eyes. Whilst blue/ ultraviolet light actually damage vision. Try driving through a work zone at 2 a.m while blue cop lights are flashing and tell me it’s not Intense.

    1. Che Tra

I just whist there is a law to prevent some car from putting the sun in the their headlight , I dont get why some ass hole turn on their “main” headlight in the city.

    2. John Jacob

@Che Tra The majority of those lights aren’t road legal. Its just that the cops don’t ticket people with them.

    3. RelentLess Enterprises

      It’s not intense

    4. Alberto Solarte

Nope, the reason why they were yellow is because it was the filament glowing that color, which also caused heat as a byproduct, not by design.

  158. JAMES ALEXANDER

I use these when driving (or even walking) in snow. It stops the whitewashing effect and glare

  159. p.messinger

Polaroid lenses restrict light waves to a specific angle, polarizing light, thereby limiting glare. Two polarizing lenses set with their axis at right angles will block all light.

  160. John Galtman

The study you reference used a simulator…
Call of duty is a simulator of war, is that the same as being in a war?

I would be happier with 20 people explaining their experience of doing the actual event. Than 20,000 people thinking they knew what it was like to do that thing in a simulator…

  161. Danny__

Does anyone struggle with night blindness and if so do these help with your driving?

  162. Ranger1

I recommend not driving at night.

  163. Jean-Philippe Drapeau

I used them a lot when I was a long-distance truck driver doing mostly the night shift.

I really felt a difference in my energy level and reduced eye fatigue over long driving hours.

However, as you mentioned, Doctor Eye Health they are a liability when in real darkness. Like on a county road with no road light, as you said, perfect example. that the exact place I felt they were dangerous rather than useful

You need some environmental light for night driving glasses to be an asset. Full moon, interstate lamp post, city driving, etc.

  164. Angie P

Been using my prescription ones for ions now and at all hours.. I think they are quite useful and work for me

  165. Richie Beard

The pair I have actually only make a slightly noticeable difference on cloudy/glary kind of days (Enough to motivate me to put them on) but, Not so much in bright sunlight or nighttime with oncoming headlights or just seeing better in the dark, not so much.

  166. Tom L.

Most of the problems with the glare is from cars with headlamps or foglamps that are BADLY AIMED! Some people just use the high-beams all the time! Most states have laws forbidding the use of fog lamps on days with good weather. Fog lamps are supposed to be used when it’s raining or snowing a LOT.

  167. sassy tbc

Motorcyclists use yellow lenses at night. It really helps.

  168. Mike Cunningham

They 100% help when driving down windy backroads with on coming traffic, especially in the rain. Or in areas with high ambient lighting (city driveing). However when driving in areas with no ambient lighting it has a neutral to slightly negative effect. As for the tests done with simulators. There’s no good way to simulate being blinded by oncoming traffic on a left turning road, especially on roads with no white lines to advert your eyes to

  169. wesley davis

Driving in the day time when a storm comes up making it difficult to see, put on the yellow tinted glasses. You will be able to see great. Does not work at night.

  170. Oliver Lorenzo

Well, if it does not worsen night vision and it helps other people in certain conditions during night driving, then it must mean it works. Though not in all situations. It doesn’t exactly “brighten” your vision at night since it is filtering blue light, it just increases contrast.

  171. Frank The Tank

A lot of cars I guess automatically headlights turn on when you start car. So daylight cars are driving in daylight with headlights on.

  172. Tyler

Make sure your not fall asleep when driving .

  173. THX 1138

What’s really dumb is you have people obsessed with filtering out blue light with their glasses and people supposedly upgrading their factory 4,500k headlights with very blue shifted 6,500K aftermarket headlights. Both groups claim with their solutions they can see better. My vote is looking at the world through yellow lens or with blue headlights is equally annoying….In fairness though at least the yellow lens people aren’t annoying others 🙂

  174. Kitty squad

Hi Doctor, thank you very much for this video. I have keratoconus and it paralyzes my movement at night, the glare is just blinding. Not sure if night vision glasses will work though, too scared to try. Has anyone with the same conditoon tried them?

    1. TheHopperUK

Hi. I have retinitis pigmentosa and I use an orange fitover eyeshade. Not for driving – for walking. They help a great deal with moving around at night for me, they cut the glare right down.

  175. Mick t

These only help with glares and oncoming lights and and seeing signs that reflect light clearly other than that they serve no other purpose at night

  176. Issac F

With today’s headlights and the idiots who drive big vehicles.. I’ll go for tinted lenses to limit the light any day!

  177. sridhar Kondamadgu

The problem is when other vehicle coming opposite to us in one way…..

Thank you for sharing. For me, driving glasses helps during night driving.
Are driving glasses the same as blue light glasses?

    1. Che Tra

Driving Glasses are just an extreme version of blue light glasses.

    2. John Love

@Che Tra Thank you, thank you. Due to the nature of my work, I am exposed to blue light for more than 12 hours a day, and I admit it has affected the quality of my sleep. After wearing glasses with yellow lenses for less than a week, I sleep more soundly.

    3. John Love

And many thanks to the scientists who made this discovery.

  182. J Brock

I’ve been seeing some people suggesting using computer antireflective glasses for driving. Have you had anyone suggest that? I think I have a hereditary issue as I have family members with similar issues and the yellow tint doesn’t really do much for me. What are your thoughts on computer antireflective glasses for driving?

  183. Yshsjdj Grhehs

People be driving with bright lights trying to blind people.

  184. johnnyhun1

I am a truck driver so I drive many times at night, these are really great glasses because help your eyes to be relaxed, its like sunglasses during daytime. But when I go to curvy country roads it makes harder to see the bends and the sense of distance.

  185. Tim Vest

    They don’t help.

  186. Joe R

Back in the 80s, I had the original BluBlockers. I tried them at night and they turned bright oncoming headlights into two yellow dots. These days, they make them where they’re dark at the top, and fade to lighter at the bottom. I want lighter from top to bottom but can’t find them.

  187. EnglishAndy

I’ve just ordered a pair of these. I’m doing a lot of truck, van driving & get blasted by glaring headlights. New car headlights are terrible that I can’t even see the car ??‍♂️.

  188. SRG Channel

I am using this form one year on bike .
It can’t help at night but it can help too much in the evening and in the morning bcz that time light condition were so bad .
And also it helps to see water on the road and cars windscreen in winter .
Cars windscreen means this goggle put a shade of multiple colors on it ,and same in water.

I too am light sensitive and i got myself a pair of glasses off of amazon. nothing out of this world and cheap too. they have a somewhat of a pink lenses and i noticed that it improved my visibility during rain, foggy and moggy conditions. in some cases, it helps me in night time driving. I’m not sure if they are polarized or not. i have to look into that.

  190. Bob Bates

As an OTR truck driver I can say that those glasses work great. They not only work for night but work great in places like a giant car plant. Everyone in Honda of Canada wears them and they work great with the light in the plant. They make the man made lights look better . On the road they really help with eye strain. I always wear them when driving at nights. . Yes it is for on coming lights which is what a long haul driver will face most of the time. So they work great.

    1. dave houston

Everyone at Honda Canada does not wear them

  191. Greenkooya

Some people just forget to turn the long lights off during night and they are blinding me…these type of glasses help me reduce that light that comes from the cars coming form opposite direction

  192. honey john

Nite glass are useless , you are welcoming danger.

  193. Juan-Antonio Zuniga

Thank you for the expert opinion, it does help so people won’t fall for products that don’t help and create a false sense of protection.
Is there a type of eyewear that will actually help with night driving?
Those bloom and starburst from headlights are annoying
Thank you again and love Jed and subscribed

  194. Mark JG

Damn LED headlights on these new cars suck , too bright to the eyes go back to traditional headlights.

  195. Juli Vee

the yellow tinted plastic lens glasses do “brighten” lit objects.

  196. Joe Marchinski

Agree with you.. anything above 6000K are stupid

  197. Apollo1011

I found that they work very well, especially during rainy nights. “Enhance” is a good word.

  198. Queen BunnyFooFoo

I used to have the yellow lenses in one pair of glasses specifically for driving. I didn’t use them at night because they actually made it hard to see. But they were GREAT in fog or overcast conditions with snow on the road. They were also excellent at what we call in the country “venison time”….in the fall at dusk where the fields, the roadside and the deer all look the same color. They gave enough contrast so you could see those furry car demolishers on the side of the road. Those glasses saved my hood numerous times?!

  199. Five Stars

Can these glasses block the blue light if used for the computer use?

  200. David Cassar

how do they look into when you have yellow photocromo lens please. do they get brighter yellow or some thing else

  201. Bharat Kaushal

Hi sir I have keratoconus, and severe eye vkc ,, will they help me

  202. bluekirara

Headlight temperature should be capped at 3000K.

  203. Lizzie G

astigmatism affects night driving? my eye doctor dont want to prescribe anything because supposedly dont need prescription but is hurting my night driving lights too annoying

  204. Davo T.

Hey my brother from another mother? I am awaiting my first pair of glasses, you are very helpful and even a blessing and helping me set them up? you’re straightforward talk and honest approach has been a blessing keep up the good work and I will keep watching God bless and take care?

  205. Paul Morris

I drove for years all over the UK and remember buying my Night Glasses when they first came out. They were quite expensive then but boy did they make a difference at night and in rain. Would not drive now without them in the car.

  206. Edward DeGraaf

I have a set of polarized blue-blockers because of a family history of macular degeneration. I do not use them at night.

  207. Timbucktoothed

My son is an engineer working on circuitry of OLED panels. I was in thermodynamics which has nothing to do with him. But I asked my son if he can do mod on VR so I can see through phone lenses but have l outside of the phone covered with OLED panel displaying two red circles ??. Kinda like an Vampire glowing eyes in the dark. ? Unfortunately my son told me to get lost because he’s busy. But as I am becoming older, I would love to see better version of night vision that Mercedes had in their cars. Glasses would be even better. Wishful thinking.

  208. Maya S.

I love LED headlights. Who else?

  209. ganzon

just use sunglasses at night. It work well. But not in every cornet.

  210. Honest Abe

Does’nt work for me. Makes it harder to see overall. LED’s: same morons who thought good idea to put infotainment screens in big pieces of metal moving at 15 x’s normal evolutionary human speed! Average moron drives like their at home siting on their couch anyway!

  211. Jeffrey Sommers

Definitely help me with glare from oncoming traffic

  212. Waleye Fish

After cataract removal, a super clear lense is implanted in your eye. Most people are overwhelmed by the brightness of the way they perceive their new world. For these people they help immensely.?

  213. anneeq008

    They don’t work. I’ve tried them. They’re a con!

  214. Chris Wis

    I hate led headlights

  215. TheNameOfTheGame

Great for people with contacts to. To prevent dry eyes

  216. spider doom

The only thing that makes night vision better are rod receptors. Unfortunately, we are stuck with the number we have and the older we get the more they degenerate along with cone receptors which are for pattern recognition, color and details. Nobody will ever be able to see with the same clarity that they had when they were a kid.

  217. Reza

    2:30 thnk me later

  218. Derek Kelly

Are contacts better than glasses for night driving?

  219. Demons's Dad

Which night glass is Best for driving in night ? here in India it’s so difficult to drive during night time.

  220. Lingyu Zhou

I doubt the study using the so-called simulator. No screen can emit 2000+ lumen like LED asslights (just like a-holes grow on the front of some people, asslights are installed on the front of some cars). For that kind of lumen, you need to look straight at home projectors!
Here is my simple math that shows myself these glasses are working for me.
    1) I use halogen headlights that emits little blue lights
    2) On coming asslights are strong and emit 30%+ bluelights, so much that they tint blue-ish (this is even after considering photoreceptors’ reduced sensitivity to blue light)
    3) My glasses filter blue light (tinted only, not polarized)
    4) Few light from my headlights gets filtered. It illuminates my path and travels back to my eyes.
    5) Part of (blue) light from asslights gets filtered.
    6) I get better contrast looking at what I need to look at and a safer driving.

I only hope the tint gets stronger to keep up with the competition against brighter asslights.

  221. Todd Fraisure

I have a hard time on dim or dark roads especially in the colder months. I don’t dare drive over 15 to 20 mph in town because I’m afraid of hitting some dumbass that crosses the road while looking at their phone. Or when the must think that since they’re at a crosswalk that they don’t need to.
I remember being taught repeatedly in kindergarten and by parents to Stop, Look all around you and then walk accordingly. !!!! Crosswalks are not Force Shields !!!!

  222. Elaine Goad

I find they help with glare at night and that’s important.

  223. Elaine Goad

Are these good computer glasses ?

  224. Gonso2014

Night time driving tip, everybody! Always dim the light in your speedometer to lowest setting. Your night vision will improve and your eyes will thank you.

    1. Cory Connell

For myself that bright dash would probably help as I have embryonic cataracts, which are in the centre of the eye. I was told the smaller my pupil before seeing the light is better so the light in the dash would make the pupil smaller.

  225. Eutopio Eutopia

The yellow lens glasses are probably best for fashion if you want to wear glasses but don’t need them

  226. denvadrummondify

L.E.D lights on Veheacle Should BE ilegal. Please help stop the torching of your fellow mankind With Those L.E.D lights at Nights.

  227. Maggie McDougal

I’m totally blind at night, especially when it is raining…..I keep hoping there’s a glass out there that will help, but I’m also glad I did not spend money on them if they don’t actually work.

  228. Darlene Duseberg

In your video you mentioned the newer headlights with LED and other super bright lights. What about the height of all the different vehicles? Some trucks are very high or add their running lights in addition to driving ones. I am searching for glasses to cut the oncoming glare and, after watching this video, think they don’t exist.

  229. Noon

    question doctor.
is there any filtered lens that can be use to see IR illuminator flashlights clearly??

  230. Ed ‘S

You are comparing apples and oranges with a study using a driving simulator to “simulate” night driving eye sight.

  231. Daniel FLOREV

Those are a light saver at night time in urban area with plenty of tunnels, roadwork signs, ongoing traffic…have thousands of miles with them. That survey is pure rubbish.

  232. ToxicTiki

Works just like yellow/amber ski goggles.

  233. boom vang

What about blue blocking helping due to long wavelengths being harder to focus sharply?

  234. Dilanka Kasun

Hi, I know its late but I recently bought a cheap but photochromic and polarized pair of sunglasses off Aliexpress and this pair is much more comfortable to use at night and in daytime, this gets darker so that serves a purpose too. I should mention that I ride a motorbike.

  235. Mac Richardson

You are nerdy sexy !!! Be my boyfriend ????

  236. John H

I really hate the bright lights at night! I keep some Blublocker glasses in the car now that have the amber tint, polarized , seem to help, but take off if no traffic if really dark out. For a while I kept flashing my brights at those cars, but didn’t seem to do any good except raise my BP so going with the glasses and listening to calm music much better.

  237. bladesmith 3

they did not help me. they just made lights yellow.

    1. Doctor Eye Health

      Same here!

  238. KAREN GRAHAM

I had early cataracts and had surgery. My problem is horrible halos around lights while night driving. I see my ophthalmologist once a year and I did have surgery a few months ago to correct double vision while watching Tv which worked great. But the halos around lights is bad and especially when it’s raining at night. What can I do to help me? Those yellow glasses don’t fix the halos just makes them a different color. Thanks. Btw cataract surgery was done at age 49. I’m 60 now. Dr suspects the steroids I was taking for spine issues may have caused early cataracts

  239. Ashley Clark

I just had lasik eye surgery (5 days ago) and driving home at night is awful, I can’t see anything when a car is coming at me, I’m praying these will help

  240. Joanna Goodman

I’m light sensitive and get blinded by these LED car lights of on-coming traffic. Will 50% tinted and anti-glare lenses on my long-distance glasses help to reduce this light sensitivity for night driving? Or what lenses on prescription +1.50 are most suitable for night time driving? Thank you

  241. Cora B

I can’t drive at night anymore because of the new headlights. They glare is too bright and hurts my eyes.

  242. James Williams

I put 26 years driving trucks OTR I had them and they helped. As for testing they did a test with people driving into a parking lot in the dark and found

    1. James Williams

Said people noticed a truck and trailer with reflected tape on the bottom of the trailer before they noticed a truck and trailer with lights all the way down the top and bottom side

  243. my_ideal_my_prophet

    ? fake ??

  244. Noel Klint

    …no they don’t…

  245. georgeof78

Yellow glasses are good in a snow storm. It definitely increases the contrast.

  246. Partiallyhealedsunburn

LED LIGHTS ARE THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE. THEY’VE STARTED REPLACING THE STREET LIGHTS TOO

  247. Kevin Taylor

I think the point that gets missed is that the night is brighter than ever, led lights, ultra reflect signs, street lights and high intensity signal lights. Yes yellow tint won’t make the night brighter but it will make it very slightly darker, the benefit will be it will massively reduce the blue light from led and xenon headlights. I think many opticians are missing the point here, that it’s not the dark night that is the issue, it’s headlights that are brighter than an atom bomb going off that is the problem. The trade off between slight overall darkening and big reduction in glare from directional led lights is worth having for a safer night drive.

  248. John Jacob

I use them when I ride at night with an open face helmet. I feel less I eye fatigue while still protecting my eyes from road debris.

    1. Doctor Eye Health

      Glad to hear they help!

  250. Otto Pylot

Better idea, outlaw those damn blue headlights. People in Washington state don’t know how to use a dimmer switch.

  251. Captain Kangaroo

    They work wonderfully in twilight.

  252. John Milsom

I wouldn’t expect any glasses for under 20$ any good…….what would be the best route for night driving eye wear assistance?

  253. Josh B

i live in a big city and they work the problem i have is other cars head lights

  254. try testing

i dont need to use them to see the road better…. i need them to SEE the road. thanks to all these super bright head lights i cant see the road AT ALL

  255. FEELING AWESOME The New Good Therapy

I have both cataracts and macular degeneration. These glasses enhance contrast resolution for me and also reduces glare. If it works for you, go ahead. If it doesn’t don’t bother.

    1. Doctor Eye Health

Glad to hear they’ve helped you out!

  256. Cory Connell

What if you have embryonic cataracts would this help people with those?

  257. naligaw motoblag

Hi doc good pm..im from.philippines…i saw ur video reggarding night vision glasses.. .. finally i found it… My eyes hard to see in night when im driving..doc may i buy it for u? Plssss

  258. Elmer Christian Silva

I came here to see if night glasses have a use in led lights… But seems okay.. not gonna intentionally use em if there’s no high beamers in my area..

  259. Korona Complex

I’m a doctor and do night shifts regularly and I can attest that night glasses (in a well lit hospital environment) help a great deal with eye strain and fatigue!

  260. moestietabarnak

IN A SIMULATOR ?! why the crap are you trusting them ? You know many simulator that simulate glare ?… correctly ? or simply the whole REAL light property..

You know Movie and TV don’t reflect true color ? they are optimized to present image for the average human vision, they drop ‘imperceptible’ light frequency or details
just even ultra-violet rays and other frequencies that are NOT simulated… in reality they hurt your eye!

  261. Mohammed Amin

I tried Crizal Prevencia lens during night drive, and it helps soften the light coming from every direction, comfort my eye during night driving, but not to expect magic.

  262. Michael Smith

I wear these because it helps filter out assholes that drive with stadium grade led lights.

  263. Bobbie Hofer

It’s those who drive with their brights on all the time! Pickup trucks have 100 headlights aimed at you! Headlights aren’t aimed properly. It isn’t even on the highway but in the city as well. ?

  264. Achilleas th

Can I use driving glasses as blue lens glasses for the computer, as they both reflect the artificial light ‘s flashes?

  265. som mo

Because I have eye deviation is it good for me to use night glasses to hide my eye problem?

  266. Robert Brown

I bought a pair of yellow night vision glasses as well as a clip on for the visor. I used to drive I-5 a fair amount at night and a certain part of the trip the glare was really bad. These worked very well and reduced the strain on my eyes.

    1. Doctor Eye Health

Great to hear! Thanks for sharing Robert

  267. chumber001

what glasses do you recommend for bright led oncoming car lights

    1. Doctor Eye Health

That’s a good question and honestly I don’t have the best answer for that. I would personally probably try either a similar yellow tinted driving lens or perhaps Avelux lenses

  268. ja go

    NO THEY DON’T

  269. Professor R.

Car headlights and street lights at night created so much glare that I felt anxious about driving after sundown. Now only take to the road in daytime hours. ?

  270. Andrius Balukas

I found deep yellow filtration makes the environment so contrasty that I feel a little bit claustrophobic; a little less or more subtle amber would go a long way to normalizing the night scene into a comfortable neutral panorama. Polarization, though darker, helps me view the road much more in midnight rain and twilight ambiguity. You’re right: amber polarization is more comfortable despite a darker confined view..

  271. Alberto Acosta

As a truck driver I’m getting tired of night driving with these cars and there hi-beams

  272. TwoTone

They do lower glare at night from headlights and street lamps BUT makes overall darker so, for me, they are a no go.

  273. Chris Janquart

Yep, 50 and hate those LEDs because I don’t have dimming rear view mirrors and there’s always some jackass in a truck or SUV that’s driving behind me and illuminating the interior of my car.

I have floaters and driving at night with oncoming traffic gives me major anxiety cause all I see is lights and glare reflecting on my floaters thus might help me

  279. Saiprasad Walawalkar

    Very informative video. Thank u.
Frankly speaking vechicle manufacturers should keep simulators at dealers end, just to guide prospective buyers how and where to use, high and low beams. Its a nightmare when opposite side driver is zooming with a high beam needlessly.

  280. Satan88

I use this for gaming, driving, and at the shooting range.
There’s always these ignorant a-holes who thinks that I’m wearing this glasses to look cool. Five years of wearing Duco glasses at night/daytime is worth every penny.
P.s. If it’s 2dark while driving at night without street lights or cars. Simply pull up glasses and drive normal. Cheers!

    Purple lights are really annoying

  283. raz eliezer Ben moshe

can u say something about people vs blue-tinted? thanks

  284. DIDAmnesia

The LED headlights also flash about 20x per second. I can see it on my security cameras when cars go by. I guarantee that’s a part of it. Your brain is constantly seeing flashing lights and if you weren’t susceptible to seizures before you will be in about 20 years

    1. Doctor Eye Health

Oh wow…that makes a lot of sense to me. I have several lights in my office that I cannot use when I shoot videos because the flicker gets picked up. I will review the literature of flicker and see what comes up in regards to eyestrain and other symptoms. Thanks for bringing this up.

    2. DIDAmnesia

@Doctor Eye Health yeah I’m sure it’s only part of the puzzle. Over taxing of the brain area for sight and other issues compounding.
I’ve had a few too many concussions so I unfortunately don’t even bother going to the movies anymore. I still watch and love movies, but I’ll wait until I can buy/stream it, fast forward through the extra flashing of intensely flashing lights that some movie directors think is somehow necessary. Even my beloved Aliens I turn the backlight down during a couple scenes. Could even be a feature of how the digital cameras record LED lighting when not synchronized properly or perhaps too properly.
When gaming I spent the extra for a great monitor and high fps so there’s no jittery movement. Same with my tv, went Sony because of their excellent movement and color at the expense of black ratio. Tradeoffs.

  285. chris

In the military and I have to drive vehicles at night that don’t have windshields so just wearing yellow lenses really help

    1. Doctor Eye Health

Oh wow, then yeah I can imagine something like this would be great. No windshield?

  286. Carlton Gadgettmann Price

I’m a night time truck driver and I can see where yellow night driving glasses makes a difference especially when vehicles are approaching my truck from behind with their bright or high energy led lights on and beaming into my truck mirrors. The night time yellow driving glasses makes these lights less blinding on my eyes and they make visibility better in wet conditions.

  287. GameStuff:)

  288. SJ187

Wearing yellow lens glasses during a hiking trip in the woods makes it easier to see your way around at night

  289. AyeJayCee

Testing night glasses in a simulator is terrible science. Whether it’s a projection screen or a regular screen it’s never going to reproduce the dynamic range of driving in the real world with real lights shining in your face.

Personally I don’t use night driving glasses at night I find them more helpful on overcast days where there’s not much visible light but the uv which still penetrating the clouds is causing your pupils to constrict regardless. In these situations blocking that uv and allowing your pupils to adjust properly to visible light levels is what these yellow glasses do best in my experience

  290. Liberty DIY

Yellow glasses help tremendously to defend yourself from the blinding cool-white of modern oncoming headlights. It is terrible that manufacturers use 6500K cool white color temp. They should be using ~3500K, it improves depth perception versus 6500K, reduces glare off fog on your windshield, fog in the air and light skimming off wet surfaces. Blue light causes the iris to constrict and elderly drivers suffer the most because their eyes take longer to dilate after the blinding light has passed. You can also blind yourself with blue light when it bounces of road signs and takes some time for your iris to dilate afterward.

  291. Liberty DIY

Also it is critical to dim our own ridiculous blinding blue cockpit lights when driving at night, it helps a lot.

    1. Doctor Eye Health

      Hahaha that may be true

  292. exkalibur25ca

I have EBMD in my right eye (though I wish it was in my left only so I could say my sinister eye…). I find these glasses to be a god send. They don’t do much to enhance the overall image, but they do an amazing job at cutting down the dazzle of oncoming lights. Specifically when driving in the dark on wet roads. Oncoming vehicles’ headlights blow out my vision with the glare and reflection on the road. “blue blocking” glasses do a very good job knocking that down enough that it isn’t really an issue for me.

  293. Mary Jane Manson

I am inclined to believe the majority of light sensitivity & glare issues which cause eye discomfort stem from dry eye caused by dehydration, overexposure to UV light from smartphone & tqblet displays / computer monitors / tv screens / etc. and not taking frequent / long enough breaks from the unblinking stare at electronic devices.

  294. DIDAmnesia

I previously said LED headlights flash 20x a second, but after looking at my sec cams again, brake lights flash slowly between 2-4 times a second, and headlights are variable. Some flash slow/long at 4-10x per second, but most are 24-48x per second. That might seem unnoticeable but the brain sees it. That means they flash brighter to maintain the same amount of light as an older standard incandescent bulb.
They should be outlawed. BMW and Lexus have some of the worst. Those purple and blue piles of dog crap lights.
    Ouch!

  295. Jerzy Czaja Szwajcer

Yo if yer comp was polarized en those lenses also you would have seen black screen

  296. chanakya

Please suggest some glasses to reduce glare and brightness while driving at night , the main problem is when I drive at night i can’t see my road whenever some other vehicle come opposite to me
